Frequently asked questions

General

How many treatments will I need?

Generally 2- 3 treatments with 3 weeks between each treatment are required to achieve the optimum rejuvenation of an area. When treating scarring, at least 5-6 treatments would generally be required.

When will I see results?

Immediately after treatment the skin looks more hydrated. The results are gradual as collagen re- production takes time, most clients report a gradual improvement in their skin colour and texture over 6- 8 week period. That improvement is compounded as each consecutive treatment is performed. So it’s really important to apply the serum provided at home and commit and rebook your treatments to see the best results.

WHEN IS SKIN NEEDLING TREATMENT NOT SUITABLE?

The treatment should not be performed within 3 weeks of having an injectable dermal filler or botox. The treatment is never performed on raised moles, warts or lesions during pregnancy or breastfeeding The treatment will not be performed if the client has an active herpes or acne breakout, however, once resolved the treatment can go ahead after 2 weeks The treatment cannot be performed if there is active psoriasis or if you are undergoing treatment.

What to expect when you have this treatment done.

The skin is cleansed & numbing cream is applied for 15-20 minutes. This minimizes the discomfort and most clients’ grade discomfort as 2-3 out of 10 at the most. The skin is thoroughly treated in such a way that each area is needled about 15 to 20 times. An even flushing is the best indication for a perfect medical grade treatment. Your skin will appear flushed (pink to red) which may last for 12 to 24 hours on average. After the treatment a soothing mask is applied for 15-20 minutes The treatment takes approximately 45 minutes. In total allow 90 mins for your appointment. Please arrive with no makeup on.

How does it work?

This procedure is aimed at stimulating the microcirculation and the natural processes of collagen production and regeneration. Micro-punctures are being inflicted by the hand held Phi-needle pen device (Derma Pen), in the region of the most prominent wrinkles or skin changes and across the entire face. Microneedles penetrate the skin to the depth of 0,2 – 0,75mm and the procedure is considered to be painless. During the treatment specially designed and patented Gel Solution is applied to the skin surface and subsequently absorbed through the micro punctures allowing the gel formula to be active in the deepest layers of the dermis, maximising collagen reproduction, stimulating and renewing skin cells.

Derma Roller Vs Microneedling

Derma Roller Vs Microneedling I get asked alot what the differences are between the Derma Roller and the Microneedling procedure. I have listed some comparisons below for your reference. Derma Roller * Unnecessary risk of skin trauma due to size of needles
* Cross contamination risk
* Difficult to use at exact depth required, everybody has different skin thickness
* Unable to concentrate on and target small areas due to size of device
* Questions around home cleaning, storage & potential of needle damage Microneedling with Tina
* Precise and adaptable needle depth specific to client's own skin thickness
* Small diameter to enable the treatment of hard to reach areas
* Sterile, single use and disposed of safely in clinical environment
* No cross contanimation risk
* Verticle stamping compared to rolling reduces skin trauma
* Use of highly concentrated gels and post treatment products for best results
* Experienced, qualified, licensed and insured skin expert

Is tattooing the lash line safe??

Yes. When done by a properly traing artist it is very safe. In fact Tina has tattooed quite a few optomitrists. It was explained to her first hand that this is actually better than traditional makeup which can clog pores as well as harbour bacteria. (If youve seen the research that showshow dirty eye makeup can become and we all know we do not replace it as often as recommended.

Occasionally there is swelling in the mornings for the first few days, however this usually subsides within an hour after rising. You will be advised to wash daily and apply an aftercare ointment thoughout the day. Mascara and shadows must be avoided for 1 week. A Lash lift and tint is a great complimenatry treatment Tina offers this service at a discounted rate when combining with a lash line tattoo. please book this service at least 2 days prior to your procedure.

How painful is it really??

The general consensus is. Its not painful! The procedure can be intimidaiting and a little nerve racking but rest assured you are in very experienced and secure hands. Clients are repeatedly asked if they are comfortable and Tina will talk you through some more sensitive areas. The highest quality anaethetics are used that are ph balanced and safe for the eye.
No one has ever asked to stop.
No one has ever cried.
(Except for tears of joy when they see their results for the first time ;)

Can you explain the difference between Tight-liner, Lash enhancement, and classic eyeliner

If you are unsure how thick you want to go then Tina always recommends starting conservatively. You can always add to it at a second appointment. The the application of pigment starts within the lash line and is built up so you may also decide durring the process if you would like to add. Tight-liner. also known as invible eyeliner. A very thin line is placed within the roots of your lashes. The result is a very natural darkening of the contour of the eye. This service also gives the appearance of a much thicker lash line. Lash enhancement- The pigment is placed throughout the lashline,is slightly thicker than tightliner and gives alot more definition to the eye but still looks soft Eyeliner - is describing a service where in addition to the above discussed eyelash enhancement, pigment is ALSO placed ABOVE the lash line, similar to topical cosmetics. Lower lash enhancement is usually the outer third of the lower lash line done in such a way that once healed is "barely there" and simply frames the eye in a natural soft application. Lower eyeliner service where the entire lower lash line has pigment placed, with the intention of it being obvious once healed.

What is smoky lash enhancment?

Smoky refers to very soft edges. The pigment is heavily sateurated within the lash line and gradual dusts up. The effect is similiar to a kohl pencil rather than the hard edges of a liquid liner.

What is Gum Recession?

Gum recession refers to the loss of gum tissue along the gumline. This can occur as a result of periodontal disease (gingivitis, periodontitis, advanced periodontitis), the natural aging process, or abrasive habits when it comes to brushing the teeth.

Why should gum recession be taken seriously?

When gum recession occurs, the root structure of the tooth becomes exposed. This means that tooth decay and other problems can affect the teeth along the gumline and beneath it. Since healthy gums are essential for a healthy mouth, getting gum recession treated is important for lasting dental wellness.

What is Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique?

The Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique is a minimally invasive option for treating gum recession. Unlike traditional grafting techniques, PST is scalpel and suture free.
All of the tools and techniques used to perform the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique were created by Dr. John Chao.

How does Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique differ from traditional gum grafting?

Traditional gum recession treatments involve the use of donor tissue or soft tissue grafts in order to rebuild the gumline. This soft tissue would be sutured in place and would join with existing gum tissue as it healed. While this traditional grafting treatment is effective, comparable results with better patient experience can be achieved through the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique.

How is Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique performed?

During the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique, a needle is used to make a small hole in the patient's existing gum tissue. Through this pinhole, special instruments are used to gently loosen the gum tissue. These tools help expand and slide the gumline to cover the exposed root structure. There are no grafts, no sutures, and no incisions needed with the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique. It simply involves the adjustment of the existing tissue.

What are the benefits of Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique?

The benefits of the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique are many: Less Discomfort for the patient after treatment. Faster recovery for the patient than traditional grafting. No need for uncomfortable sutures. No need for scalpels or invasive surgical tools. No need to take donor tissue from the patients palate. Excellent, natural-looking, long-lasting results.
